Some flavours cross oceans. And some stories are best told at the table.

In 2025, Nata Pura brings the pastel de nata – a symbol of Portuguese pastry – to Expo 2025 Osaka, celebrating centuries of cultural connection between Portugal and Japan.

Portugal Pavilion: the Ocean as a starting point

With the theme “Ocean: the Blue Dialogue”, Portugal’s Pavilion honours the sea as a source of exchange – of ideas, culture and flavour. Designed by Kengo Kuma, the structure uses recycled fishing nets and maritime ropes, symbolising sustainability and motion.

This is a stage to present the best of Portugal.

The pastel de nata as a cultural ambassador

Among the sensory experiences at the Pavilion, Nata Pura’s pastéis de nata stand out as a visitor favourite.
Crafted with a traditional recipe and modern quality standards, they offer a taste of Portugal – often for the first time.

Some visitors return for more. Others leave with curiosity and flavour in equal measure.

A long-standing connection

Portugal and Japan have shared ties since the 16th century – when Portuguese navigators brought not only goods and techniques, but also words like “pão”, “botão” and “caramelo” to Japan.

Now, we bring flavour into that dialogue.

A global stage with real impact

With 150+ pavilions and over 28 million expected visitors, Expo 2025 Osaka is a unique opportunity!
